About Cobham
Cobham, Surrey, is a charming and affluent village that blends English countryside appeal with refined elegance. Whether you're planning a day trip or a weekend getaway, there are plenty of things to see and do that showcase Cobham’s rich history, natural beauty, and vibrant community spirit.
One of the top attractions is Painshill Park, a breathtaking 18th-century landscaped garden created by Charles Hamilton. This 158-acre park features a picturesque lake, follies, a Gothic tower, a ruined abbey, and a magical crystal grotto. The park is perfect for walking, photography, and picnicking, and the winding paths reveal a series of stunning views designed to surprise and delight visitors around every corner.
Another must-visit is Cobham Mill, located on the tranquil banks of the River Mole. This red-brick water mill dates back to the late 1700s and is the only working water mill in Surrey. On open days, visitors can witness the mill in action and learn about traditional milling methods from knowledgeable volunteers. It’s a peaceful spot that also offers lovely riverside walks.
For a more relaxed and community-focused experience, The Medicine Garden is a hidden gem. Set in a restored Victorian walled garden, it offers artisan shops, wellness studios, and a lovely café. It’s a great place to enjoy a calm atmosphere while browsing for unique gifts, enjoying lunch, or attending a yoga session or workshop.
Cobham’s High Street is also well worth exploring. Lined with independent boutiques, cozy cafés, stylish restaurants, and historic buildings, it blends the old with the new in a way that feels both authentic and upscale. It’s the perfect place to shop for local goods or enjoy a leisurely brunch.
History lovers should also stop by St. Andrew’s Church, parts of which date back to the 12th century. The church features beautiful stained glass, historic memorials, and a peaceful churchyard—offering a quiet moment of reflection amidst a busy day.
Nearby, just a short drive away, are the Brooklands Museum and London Bus Museum, which are ideal for families and history enthusiasts. They offer a fascinating look at Britain’s transport and motorsport heritage.
Whether you're exploring gardens, heritage sites, or boutique shops, Cobham has something to offer everyone.
